The 41st. Library Week Activities

( 28.03.05 - 01.04.05)

On March 28, 2005, The 41st Library Week started with the photograph and caricature exhibition entitled “History Of Knowledge and Documents”  which was presented by EMU Library and TRNC National Archives. The Cartoon Artist Mr. Cemal Tunceri's cartoons also presented in the exhibition. The EMU Rector, Prof. Dr. Halil Güven, participated to the opening ceremony with other guests. 


On March 30, 2005, a cocktail offered by EMU Library to the guests which was aimed to present local Cyprus foods.



On March 30, 2005,  A conference on “Cyprus Folklore”  was given by  Writer Mr. Oğuz Yorgancıoğlu, who has written several books and done work on Cyprus Folklore.


On March 31, 2005, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Netice Yıldız from the Faculty of Architecture, presented a paper, which was entitled;  “The Adventure of Eastern Manuscriptst Collected in British Libraries” .



On March 31, 2005,  A conference on “Total Quality Management in Information Centers”  was presented by  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömer Yağız from the Faculty of Business and Economics.


On April 01, 2005,  At the invitation of the EMU Library many students from several schools in Famagusta, visited the Library. Activities prepared for them were; storytelling, a clown show and games. Writer Ayşen Dağlı was the special guest who performed the activities together with students. After the performances, presents were given to students.


On April 01, 2005,  The last activity during the week was "Poetry Night". Writer and poet; Ayşen Dağlı was the presenter. Poets from Cyprus; Mehmet Kansu, Ümit İnatçı, Mehmet Levent and Arif Albayrak recited their poems in an atmosphere of candles, flowers and wine. Library staff also contributed to the poetry night. Ahmet Sertcanlı and Senal Amca recited poems. At the end of the night, some quests shared their poems with the librarians..
