What is Library Member Account
The Library Member Account service is accessible through the Library online catalog on campus or remotely from any computer connected to the internet. To log-in to your account go to the Library
online catalog, then at the top right side of the screen write your user ID and PIN code to logging into your Member Account.
Logging into your Library Member Account, allows you;
- To make reservations for books on loan (Holds)
- Check your reserved items list (Holds)
- Check your borrowed items list (See what you have checked out)
- Check due dates (book return dates)
Log-in to your Library Member Account
Note:Only registered library users (Library members) are able to apply for "Library Member Account". Please register and become a library member first, before applying for "Library Member Account".
Registration to the Library: Library Registration Forms (membership cards) are offered at the Circulation Desk / 1st Floor in the Library.
Eligibility for Service
Only registered library users (Library members) are able to apply for 'Library Member Account' and use this service. EMU students and academic / administrative staff can register -apply- and become a member of the Library. -All registered library members are entitled to borrow from the library-.
Registration to the Library: Library Registration Forms (membership cards) are offered at the Circulation Desk / 1st Floor in the Library. All applications must be made in person. Fill the form in your own handwriting and submit it to the Circulation Desk.

Obtaining a Library Member Account: Apply for an Account
To use the Member Account service, you need a Library Member Account (user ID and PIN code) which will be assigned by the Library after your application is processed.

There are two ways to obtain a Library Member Account;
1. APPLY in PERSON:
- please apply in person with a valid ID at the Library Circulation Desk / 1st Floor in the Library.
2. APPLY ONLINE:
- Please Complete the;
Library Member Account Request Form, to receive a personal "user ID and PIN code" for the Member Account service. (Note: This Request Form only works with Internet Explorer browser.)
- EMU Library will verify your affiliation and may contact you if further information is required.
- If you qualify for Member Account service, a "user ID and PIN code" will be sent to your @emu.edu.tr e-mail address.
Note:
"EMU email" system is the official form of Library's electronic communication. If you do not have an EMU email account (@emu.edu.tr), please contact your Department Secretary to obtain an EMU email account.
Applications by telephone, fax, etc. are
not acceptable.
You
must change your password when you first log-in, for the security reasons in order to protect your personal data and your privacy. Your new password must be exactly
7 characters long.

Reservation on Books on Loan (Holds)
If an item you are interested in is currently borrowed by another user; you can place the item on reserve (Hold) by your Library Member Account. The on-line
Library Member Account system allows you to place a reservation (Hold) through the
online catalog. After your reservation, when the reserved book returned back and is ready to be borrowed; you will be notified via your @emu.edu.tr email address that the item is ready and you can borrow the item from the Library Circulation Desk.
Note: "EMU email" system is the official form of Library's electronic communication. If you do not have an EMU email account (@emu.edu.tr), please contact your Department Secretary to obtain an EMU email account.
To Reserve (Hold) an Item Online, Follow the Steps Below:
Step 1. Search the
online catalog for the book you want.
Step 2. Check the status of the book (click on the Volume/Copy, loan status info) and if the book is currently checked out (on loan) you can place the book on reserve (Hold).
Step 3. Upon display of the record on screen, click on the "Put a reserve on this item" button at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4. You will see the "Member Information" menu on the screen. You first need to identify yourself with your Library Member Account (user ID and PIN code). Enter your 'user ID and PIN code', and then click on the "Submit" button to submit your request. Reserved (Hold) item success will be displayed on the screen with a message; "You successfully put a reserve on this item".
Step 5. Go back to the "Main Menu" or "Catalog Search".
Step 6. You will be notified via your emu.edu.tr email address when your reserved item (Hold) is ready to be borrowed from the Library Circulation Desk.
Step 7. After receiving the notification e-mail please borrow the book at the Library Circulation Desk (Borrowing Section) within 2 working days. Reservations will be cancelled if the reserved book is not borrowed within the reservation validity period of 2 working days, and the book will be returned to the shelves or given to the next requester.
Note: Please note that the number of reservations is limited: Books and other items may be reserved max. by 3 users and the same user can reserve up to 3 books at the same time
Check Reserved Items List (Holds)
When you have logged into your
Library Member Account, you can check your reserved items list (Holds) on the screen.
Your Borrowed Items List
When you have logged into your
Library Member Account, you can see your borrowed items list on the screen (Borrowed Items List).
Check Due Dates (book return dates)
When you have logged into your
Library Member Account, you can see your loans listed on the screen (Borrowed Items List).
The "Due Date" (Book Return Date) on the right side on the screen is the date that the borrowed item must be returned or renewed by.
Note: It is not possible to renew borrowed items online. Borrower who wish to have an extension on the loan (renewing loan period), must ask at the Library Circulation Desk / 1st Floor with the Borrowed book(s). (Loans can be renewed, if there are no reservations on them.)
