What is Remote Access (Off-Campus Access)?
-By VPN (Virtual Private Network) and/or Proxy Server-
The restricted electronic library resources (licensed resources) such as online databases and electronic journals are available to the Eastern Mediterranean University faculty, students and staff, from locations outside the campus by VPN (Virtual Private Network) and/or Proxy Server. This means, members of the EMU community who use other internet service providers, from home (off-campus) or who are traveling are able to use the Library VPN (Virtual Private Network) and/or Proxy Server to gain access remotely to the Library’s restricted (licensed) electronic resources via the Library website.
The restricted electronic library resources -available to access remotely- include the following links:
- Online Full Text Databases
- Online Bibliographic Databases
- Databases on Trial
- Federated Search (Summon)
- E-Journals List (A to Z)
- E-Books List
Access to the following links and online resources -via the Library website- are freely available to all users with internet access and do not require to access remotely.
- The Library's Web Based Online Catalog -SirsiDynix Symphony-
- Free E-Resources
- Other links of the Library Website
Note: If you are in the library or using a computer from anywhere within the confines of Eastern Mediterranean University Campus, you will not need remote access, because you will have automatic access to Library’s electronic resources.
Who is Eligible to use the Remote Access Service?
Remote Access (Off-Campus Access) to the Library’s licensed online databases and electronic resources is limited to Eastern Mediterranean University faculty, staff and students.
Members of the public are welcome to use our online databases and electronic resources on the EMU Library premises.
To use the Library Remote Access Service, you need a ‘user name and password’ which will be assigned by the Library.
